Though often used as a shorthand, “build-essential” is not a package used to install packages that are essential for building software – “build-essential” depends on packages that are essential for building Debian packages. Therefore, the dependency on “build-essential” implies a dependency on a lot of packages that are not actually necessary to build minetest (e.g. the Perl programming language). --- diff --git a/README.md b/README.md index a04a3c60f..a31e2a8af 100644 --- a/README.md +++ b/README.md @@ -142,7 +142,7 @@ Compiling For Debian/Ubuntu users: - sudo apt install build-essential libirrlicht-dev cmake libbz2-dev libpng-dev libjpeg-dev libxxf86vm-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libsqlite3-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev libopenal-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev libfreetype6-dev zlib1g-dev libgmp-dev libjsoncpp-dev + sudo apt install g++ make libc6-dev libirrlicht-dev cmake libbz2-dev libpng-dev libjpeg-dev libxxf86vm-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libsqlite3-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev libopenal-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev libfreetype6-dev zlib1g-dev libgmp-dev libjsoncpp-dev For Fedora users:
